http: why did you add this to the patch category? --beej 22:05, 2 October 2011 (MDT)

Because the ASR tool usually gets patched within the ipsw. See also the two links and the assembly. Why do you think it should not belong into this category? But yes, maybe additional explanations are necessary. Or we could create a new page ASR Patch, describe the patch there and leave ASR with the general description. -- http 00:11, 3 October 2011 (MDT)
I added subcategories now. Hopefully this makes it more clear. -- http 01:29, 3 October 2011 (MDT)
The disassembly isn't a patch, right? I guess it makes it obvious what to NOP out, though, so maybe this is good enough? --beej 13:53, 3 October 2011 (MDT)
Right, a disassembly it isn't a patch. The article is mainly about ASR, not only the patch. That's why I suggested to separate the articles. I might do that separation some day. Look at the second "See Also" link. There it says "ASR can be patched by...", so no NOPs, but instead insert a branch. That should be enough information (especially together with the assembly listing). If I find more time, I'll list for all patches, for every device and for all firmware versions the exact patch pattern. The first "See Also" link lists one of them. --http 15:54, 3 October 2011 (MDT)
