IPSW Definition

Sorry for the edits; I didn't see that there was some edit war already going on before I stepped in. Ok, now to the subject: I've seen that link, but I think it's wrong. That page is probably not trustworthy and just a collection of random acronyms found anywhere. I'm sure you find lots of more sources saying the same. I think that's just the modernized use of the term, meaning iPod/iPad/iPhone software. If you want, we can add this to the article too, "current meaning for people on the street", or something like that. Fact is that IPSWs existed before the iPhone was released, so I don't think it could have meant "iPhone software" since then. Or has it changed somewhen? Evidence for the change? The only thing I would accept would be if Apple itself would now mean "iPhone software" (or "iPod/iPad/iPhone software") with it, but I haven't seen any such reference yet (except on their discussions pages coming from users, not Apple). --http (talk) 20:04, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

I think it should say "iPod Software Update", but mention its original meaning was lost as it encompasses all iDevices now.

Well I added both to be correct. Most say iPhone but some say iPod too so we cant really tell. --iAdam1n (talk) 21:47, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
