Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from my recollection, the concept of dual-booting (as a possible exploit) pretty much naturally arose in the dev channel and cannot be attributed to a single person. However, we were only able to work around the check_for_suspicious_partitions routine in restored with some brilliant work by bgm, who solved the problem half an hour after I introduced him to it. We were then able to jailbreak 1.1.3, although we probably never released that particular method publicly since we believed that the soft-upgrade was sufficient.

Dual-boot

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from my recollection, the concept of dual-booting (as a possible exploit) pretty much naturally arose in the dev channel and cannot be attributed to a single person. However, we were only able to work around the check_for_suspicious_partitions routine in restored with some brilliant work by bgm, who solved the problem half an hour after I introduced him to it. We were then able to jailbreak 1.1.3, although we probably never released that particular method publicly since we believed that the soft-upgrade was sufficient. --Planetbeing 06:33, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

@geohot

QuickPwn has more to it than you may think. For instance, it is the first public tool to not require iBoot / iBEC / iBSS / and friends to have .patch files, it will automatically do a byte search and take care of it all.
