I'm following all this to get more up to date on the iPhone jailbreaking scene, because I think if you buy an iPhone it's your right to fully use it. Now that I have one, I want to participate here also. But better you treat me like a n00b, what is true regarding iPhone cracking at the moment.

To get up to speed, I'm supporting some users on the [http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f456/ GSM Forum] pages regarding jailbreaking etc. That helps me at least to know what is going on. I have an iPod Touch 1G and since a few months an iPhone 3GS (new boot). I had to update it to 3.1.3 (and baseband 05.12.01) because it was some kind of bricked after trying Winterboard and only restore helped, so I have no unlock at the moment. My daugher has an iPod Touch 3G. I currently have no Mac to test things on, but will try to get one.

I'm working as a software developer. My first machine code experience was on a Commodore 64 (6510 processor) in the 80s I think. Later 68000 (AMIGA), Intel 80186, SATURN (on the HP48SX calculator, reverse engineering the whole operating system, that was 1992). In the last ten years I'm not programming assembler anymore (only higher languages), but I know the basics of the new technology also (memory protection by the processor etc.) I'm following all this to get more up to date on the iPhone jailbreaking scene, because I think if you buy an iPhone it's your right to fully use it.
