:Sorry for the delay in replying. I've been a little bit busy... and AWOL. The server that the script was running on died the other month, and I've been too scared to look at the backups to make sure I do actually have a copy that works of the script. I'll try and get around to looking this week. Sorry again --[[User:Beau|Beau]] 01:22, 12 June 2012 (MDT)

hi Beau, i'm thankful for your theiphonewiki twitter bot :) is it a known issue that it'll often post duplicates and updates out of order? --Beej 23:39, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey Beej! Sorry for the incredibly delayed reply, I've been lazy. I believe I've fixed the twitter bots now; originally it was a caching problem but now I believe I've fixed it. If there's any more problems, don't hesitate to shout! --Beau 11:23, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Hey. We are still getting duplicate tweets. --Toddyt1 20:12, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
yep. i'm still seeing problems. eg: http://twitter.com/#!/theiphonewiki currently shows 2 tweets with different bit.ly shortened URL's for the same update: http://bit.ly/i4tasm and http://bit.ly/hEEX4i --Beej 00:06, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Hey ToddyT and Beej; this is by design. If a page has had multiple changes, there will be a separate tweet with a link pointing to that 'difference' of the wiki page. However, I did just notice thanks to you Beej, that there seems to be duplicate tweets with the different bit.ly URLS; one is www.theiphonewiki and the other is just theiphonewiki; I think this is due to whatever the editor was using to access the site and gets pushed through the RSS feed. I should be able to fix this.... 'should'! Bear with me. :) --Beau 00:13, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
hi Beau. I still see occasional dupes. Also, yesterday, a few tweets went out with no links. Known issues? --beej 18:09, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Hi. There are still duplicates. Like this minor change I made that resulted in two tweets. Here the links to the tweets: [1] [2] As you can see they show both the same edit (/wiki/index.php?title=Cmw&diff=18275&oldid=prev) but once with domain http://www.theiphonewiki.com/ and one with http://theiphonewiki.com/. It would be great if you could fix that. -- http 19:29, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
I'll see what I can do; unfortunately this is how MediaWiki posts to the Recent Changes RSS Feed. Ragh!--Beau 07:49, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Hi, Beau. Have you had a chance to take a look? If not, is the reason because you're out of cycles for this? If so, is there anyway somebody else could help? Cheers! beej 13:31, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Do you use the ATOM or RSS feed. That might be the problem. --Balloonhead66 16:12, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

@Balloonhead66: Yeah I use the RSS feed (theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&feed=atom); as far as I know there's no other public way to access the recent changes. If you know of a way, please do let me know! Beau 23:14, 17 July 2011 (MDT)

It's okay, Beau. The emotional scars I have from having my questions ignored should eventually heal ;P The reason I asked them is that perhaps there are wikimedia devs who'd like to collaborate with you. What you created is obviously insanely useful or we wouldn't be having this discussion :) What say ye? beej 04:42, 19 July 2011 (MDT)
Sorry. I suffer from lazy :-P Basically, that'd be nice if I had a nice way to pull data (in this case, recent changes) from sites and use it for Twitter, etc. If i wanted, it would be possible to perhaps do some filtering, e.g. skip all URLs containing www. But for whatever reason, maybe there'll only be an entry on www and not .theiphonewiki. So it's possible, but I wouldn't know if it might drop some entries, etc. Sigh! Beau 05:20, 19 July 2011 (MDT)
I think your pull hack has been very useful, but it's time to graduate to a real solution. I was hoping that you'd be interested in getting real push-based twitter feed support into the wikimedia tree. That clearer? :) beej 06:51, 19 July 2011 (MDT)
Beau: I see you made a recent wiki edit, so you're obviously still around. Just nod if you can hear me :) beej 12:23, 7 August 2011 (MDT)
