This folder is one designated to storying an array of assets which are designated to be used for testing purposes. These folders typically carry large assets, and are used by a verity of tools. The seemingly main reason for having these assets stored in a central place as it allows to multiple tools to access it easily, both apps and command line can access these assets to use for testing purposes.
This area also serves as a good place to start looking if one would want to gain information on upcoming devices, but typically this is limited to model numbers, but on rare occasions more information can be obtained.
