Formatting

I noticed you are having problems with your formatting and am here to help! Cole is here to help!

/dev

You need to work on your formatting... */dev/blah_blah ( blah bah ) is not acceptable... Use *blah_blah ... --Balloonhead66 19:32, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

When I made that page i was in a hurry and can we sort the invisible text ( some of it Should be notes ) --liamchat 22:30, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
The question is not appropriate here. Please ask it on the Talk page for /dev: Talk:/dev --Balloonhead66 18:45, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
This may not be the place, but if you work on your formatting skills, I could make you an admin on my wiki: Wiki --Balloonhead66 18:50, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
what is the difference between user and admin editing wise --liamchat 19:06, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Alot of the pages are going to be protected (but not all) and an admin on my wiki will allow you to edit even the protected pages, block spammers, delete pages, delete images, move images, delete images and more --Balloonhead66 00:26, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia Links

Did you know theres this great feature called the wikipedia namespace? It is used by Apple Inc. ... That link would take you to Apple Inc. on wikipedia... Like this: Apple Inc. --Balloonhead66 19:32, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

External Links with bar

Do not use Apple Inc. ... That does not work... and will produce Apple Inc., but will link to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Inc.| ... Pllease, please, I say it one more time, PLEASE use the wikipedia namespace! --Balloonhead66 19:32, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Changing Display Title

OK, so seeing what is above, use if there were a file called blah_blah is the /dev folder. Normally, blah_blah would display as /dev/blah blah in the title, but we want /dev/blah_blah . So we use the DISPLAYTITLE key. It will only allow changing spaces to underscores, lowercase to uppercase, and uppercase to lowercase. Hope this helped! --Balloonhead66 19:37, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Headings

Spaces in title

Do not put spaces in headings like == About Me == . Instead use ==About Me== ... --Balloonhead66 19:42, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Ok when I click the button on the toolbar it creates a == Headline text == not the =Headline text== that you think is correct --liamchat 23:12, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Please just type it yourself then, it saves db space... --Balloonhead66 23:14, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
the real way to save space is to delete the images in Special:Unusedimages and we only need to wurry about database size if we are updating the Special:Version of the wiki --liamchat 23:21, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Deleting the images or removing the spaces doesn't save any database space, because the full history is stored (even for deleted pages or images). But I agree that unnecessary and/or unused stuff should get removed to have the latest version contain the correct data. For the spaces I think we can allow both, but better not mix it. --http 17:09, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
The entire page modification is not saved, only the change, hence to bold red when comparing 2 revisions... --Balloonhead66 22:17, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Sizes

Use ==blah blah== for standard headings, ===blah blah=== for sub headings, ====blah blah==== for sub-sub headings, and so on... The max is 7 sizes (or equal symbols on both sides of the title). =blah blah= can be used like <h1> but equals are wiki format and that is what we like here... --Balloonhead66 19:42, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Repeating table cells

You can start a table row with |colspan="2" to make that cell spread to the next column. Set it to 3 to have it copied to the next 2 columns, etc... --Ryccardo 20:25, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

What do you think of the current type of table ( i got it from the firmware page ) we still need to find out what some of the node's do ( Berkeley Packet Filter is made by jailbreaking ) --liamchat 20:29, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
It's going pretty well, but I think we shouldn't mention availability on the iPhone 2G or other devices until someone can demonstrate its existence (except certain virtual devices like null and zero available on every unix-like system). --Ryccardo 21:03, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
This is what is making me think because i want the apple tv nodes because i think they will be very different ( hdmi, no battery ) and ptyp0-ptyp7 shuld be on all device's because they are part of armv6 --liamchat 21:25, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Ban liamchat request

Basic discussion

There is a petition going on to ban liamchat from this wiki. I'm not sure how serious it is and nobody can vote for him there. So please comment here, pro and contra, preferrably with arguments. I think five users more against him with serious arguments would be enough. --http 22:05, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

??? Why would you ban him? I havn't seen anything wrong he has done... Please give more info... --Balloonhead66 22:15, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
I don't understand it ether but I do help by filling in the missing keys and check the Current ones --liamchat 22:45, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Just to make it clear: Nobody will be banned just because others don't like someone. For a ban we need a clear majority of people with good arguments. --http 22:52, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
Please give evidence of deleting / filling in wrong data. Single mistakes can happen. And his problems on IRC are unrelated to this wiki. --http 21:55, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm someone who wants him banned. My name is Fike here on the net. He constantly spams IRC networks with all types of shit... I had quite a job getting rid of him from Sauriks server, but I did it. He alsdo takes other peoples nicks, for instance "cj"'s nick was taken on sauriks server. cj couldn't ghost it, because services weren't online. And I've heard from numerous people he adds inaccurate information here on the wiki. My 2 cents. --Fike 20:59, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Lets not forget that you spammed my wiki... --Balloonhead66 23:28, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

stolen keys

can you give evidence of which keys are the stolen keys because i use PwnPie to grab my keys and only greysyntax can say i stole his keys --liamchat 17:28, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

useless/incorrect keys

i check every key i post and use the kbag's as evidence to prove it works --liamchat 17:28, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Where? I personally have tested almost all VFDecrypt keys he has posted and they are correct --Balloonhead66 00:23, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Kernelcache keys for wrong AP posted (expected: n90; actual:k48) [1] [2] Note that keys were correct, but not for the target AP. A4 firmware is tricky ;)

Conclusions

I can see a lot of haters and some problems. I don't think we should ban him for what he has done. What seems to be proven for me is that he wants to make himself important. He is clearly no hacker and hasn't contributed any real value in this wiki. But this applies to many others also (maybe also to me?)

I think this should be a warning to him: Please be very careful with all your next edits, especially page additions. Better ask on the talk page if others agree with you before you edit. For keys pages use the standard template and avoid multiple edits. Also, please watch what you do outside of this wiki (tools, IRC, etc). I won't judge you for that, but others do.

For the haters: Please tell him friendly what he does wrong. And/or tell me and I'll tell it to him. I could forbid him to change any keys pages for example or to make more than one edit per day or whatever. Depending on how big the problem is. And it is clear that if he doesn't obey any given rules what I can do.

Let's forgive him all his mistakes of the past and treat him as a new user for now. And remember to tell me if it doesn't work. So I'll close this discussion for now and I will treat this case as solved, expecting adult, friendly behavior from all sides.

We can delete and/or archive this discussion in a while. --http 00:40, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Well said, mate! :) --Dialexio 00:57, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Edit Wars

 • Opinion - "a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty." [3]

One doesn't need evidence to state an opinion. For example, I can safely go around saying, "Cookies taste good," without proof and no one will bash me for it. THEREFORE, the entries in the above table should NOT be edited by anyone other than their author, as that is their opinion. You can't make me think that red isn't a good color anymore than I can make you enjoy using hairspray.

My point is, it's someone's opinion and you can't change it.

Therefore, </edit-war> --dra1nerdrake 00:45, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

I like your thinking. I agree 100%
P.S: I object your "Cookies taste good" since I'm always right ;P
--Ifish 00:59, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. ~drake
also can we remove the mentioning of greysyntax he never said i stole his keys --liamchat 15:39, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Template for keys

Hi liamchat! It's nice if you post new keys pages. But could you use the standard format (template), I mean like JasperVail 8C134 (iPhone_3GS), instead of this new page from you? Preferrably without the KBAGs (until all agreed that we want them). This way you save us some reformatting work and you'll have less haters. Thanks! --http 23:35, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

ok when I grab the keys it reads the restore.plist and places them in the order that apple use however I do think i can change that also I will remove the kbag field --liamchat 00:29, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Not only the order, also the titles, etc. --http
On your new page Jasper 8C148 (iPad) you did it again. Please update it according to the template. Thanks. --http 19:15, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
ok i am trying to incorporate the template into the program, i am editing them now --liamchat 19:33, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
You have been warned before that you have to use the template. And even after my message above you posted another one not following the rules. Please understand that you have to play nice with others. There is no race to be the first here. As a consequence you have been blocked for a day to think about this. Next time it's more than a day. I hope you understand that. -- http 20:22, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

How do you get your keys?

You may or may not realize it, but you can only get iPhone 4 keys with an iPhone 4. Likewise, you can only get iPad keys with an iPad. So on and so on. This is because each device has a unique AES engine. If you have been posting iPhone 4 keys by running your shell script with an iPod touch 2G or anything else than an iPhone 4, you've been posting incorrect keys and I'd appreciate it if you tested them with xpwn to see if they give you binaries or gobbledygook. In the case of the latter, please remove the keys that are incorrect but leave the pages intact, as I've just reformatted some of them. --dra1nerdrake 20:30, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Actually, if devices share the same applications processor, they can also decrypt each others' KBAGs. ;) (i.e.- iPod touch 1G can fetch iPhone 3G keys because they both use the S5L8900, and the iPhone 4 can fetch iPod touch 4G keys because they both use the S5L8930.)
But yeah... If the applications processor is different, you can't get the KBAGs like tht. (i.e.- The iPod touch 2G uses the S5L8720 while the iPhone 3GS uses the S5L8920, so you cannot get 3GS keys with an iPod touch 2G.) --Dialexio 20:46, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
all of my key's are tested before i post them i just had some problem's with PwnPie not looking at the device the ipsw was made for and the double backspace was more work to fix now i need to know how to arrange "$line1" and move the "$line3" and "$line2" with it and i did get my hand's on a iphone 3gs and 3g for a day so i got ApexVail 8A274b (iPhone 3G) and ApexVail 8A274b (iPhone 3GS) (key's are missing) --liamchat 20:21, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

KBAGs

Hello, Liamchat! I noticed that you've been adding KBAGs to the key pages. I certainly appreciate the addition of such information, but just listing KBAGs without mentioning which file they're for isn't exactly helpful. Would you mind mentioning which file each KBAG is for? --Dialexio 21:39, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

i added them because i don't have those devices and i think it may help people get the key's if i add them however the exact is
