Well, current explanation of levaing recovery, without QuickPwn, didn't work for me neither for author of youtube video...

two options

you either power off like normal, or you use iRecovery to "setenv auto-boot true", "saveenv", "fsboot". if those don't work, then you messed something up.

Failsafe?

If this is a failsafe, wouldn't it be in the hardware? Because there is a recoverymode IMG3 file in the IPSW file. --Balloonhead66 11:28, 3 August 2011 (MDT)

Nope; Recovery Mode is part of iBoot. If iBoot encounters a problem along the boot chain, it can put the device into Recovery Mode so the end user knows to connect it to a computer and restore. The "recoverymode" IMG3 file that you're referring to is the "connect to iTunes" image. --Dialexio 12:41, 3 August 2011 (MDT)
Which iBoot? --Balloonhead66 12:51, 3 August 2011 (MDT)
There's only one iBoot… --Dialexio 13:11, 3 August 2011 (MDT)
