Editing the rootFS

Hey there, I have an interesting quandary. So, I vfdecrypted the rootFS dmg from the 8J2 IPSW. Then, I googled how to make the DMG read/write, which I did. So now, (after making a duplicate of the read/write, just in case) I have an 8J2 rootFS without several core apps, and /etc/fstab has been edited, just because. My question is, is it safe to put this new rootFS IPSW onto my iPhone? I'll make a backup/xbackup (jailbreak apps) of everything, for obvious reasons. I just really want to try this out, to see what it does, and how it works. Thanks!!
