Drop "Purported Version?"
Because its OS version started at 8.2, the first generation of Apple Watch specifies a fake OS version of 9.0, and uses a marketing version that is (considered) its actual version. I would like to drop the "purported version" and keep only the marketing version from watchOS 2.0 onward. The use of "9.0" could be explained in either a footnote, or a note at the beginning of the device's section (something like OTA Updates/iPhone/8.x#iPhone_4S). Anyone else in agreement? --Dialexio (talk) 01:04, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- Um....no. We don't know the full extent of why it is the way it is and Apple could change this version at any time, and then we'd have to add it all back. Besides, 9.0 is only used as a prerequisite for the 1.0 and 1.0.1. We still need to have the column since there is other versions besides it such as 2.0 etc. I don't see any reason why this column can be removed. — Spydar007 (Talk) 05:40, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
- I'm in agreement that we could remove it, as long as we do have a note stating what the prerequisite "8.2" and "8.2.1" stand for, that they were the iOS versions and then Apple changed to using watchOS versions with watchOS 2. I also doubt Apple with revert to using it again so I think we can remove it. --iAdam1n (talk) 12:29, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
