Summary
Face ID, officially called 'PearlStoreDemo', is an internal app installed on Retail Demo units in Apple stores around the world. It was introduced alongside the iPhone X, which was the first iPhone to have a facial recognition system, and serves a similar purpose to the Touch ID demo app, but instead of testing Touch ID, it's for testing Face ID. It allows for customers to go through a simulated Face ID setup and test out the facial recognition features of the phone without the phone permanently remembering their face, rendering it useless to the next customer who wants to test it out. It has been installed on every iPhone demo unit since the iPhone X, and is still being used in Apple stores around the world today.
