Well, current explanation of levaing recovery, without QuickPwn, didn't work for me neither for author of youtube video...

two options

you either power off like normal, or you use iRecovery to "setenv auto-boot true", "saveenv", "fsboot". if those don't work, then you messed something up.

Failsafe?

If this is a failsafe, wouldn't it be in the hardware? Because there is a recoverymode IMG3 file in the IPSW file. --Balloonhead66 11:28, 3 August 2011 (MDT)

Nope; Recovery Mode is part of iBoot. If iBoot encounters a problem along the boot chain, it can put the device into Recovery Mode so the end user knows to connect it to a computer and restore. The "recoverymode" IMG3 file that you're referring to is the "connect to iTunes" image. --Dialexio 12:41, 3 August 2011 (MDT)
Which iBoot? --Balloonhead66 12:51, 3 August 2011 (MDT)
There's only one iBoot… --Dialexio 13:11, 3 August 2011 (MDT)
Oh, Bootrom and iBoot, but then, there is an iBoot IMG3, so if it fails to flash the fw, then what if it failed at the iBoot IMG3? I may still not be getting this... --Balloonhead66 15:14, 3 August 2011 (MDT)
"recoveryimage" payload is simply an graphics file, one of iBoot graphical resources. If you mean what will happen if it fails to be flashed to NOR, then iBoot will just probably show a black screen with backlight turned on. --pjakuszew 03:54, 4 August 2011 (MDT)
Yes, that is what I mean. Thanks. --Balloonhead66 11:52, 4 August 2011 (MDT)
